Bechu quotes - Dancing dilemma

Bechu didn’t dance again on stage…  there was a moment where I felt bad for myself… it’s like I felt like I failed as a mother.  Weird huh?  You’ll probably understand me more if you yourself were a mother.  I was really disappointed…  I’m sorry bechu.  It’s just that I was so excited to see my bebe on stage…  Teacher kat said that vino was really into the dancing during practice, he was enjoying himself.  I guess he has stage fright or something… I really don’t know.  But I just gotta be patient with him and I’ll just picture that image where he finally gets on stage and dances… or even just stands there!  And I’ll get teary-eyed and just be full of so much pride.  Hay, bechu…

@ 1 month & 7mos

Bechu! Haay… he’s at that stage where he is slowly learning that he actually has a choice. He says NO or ‘di when he doesn’t want to do what he’s supposed to do. He shrieks when we push him to do it. It’s so fascinating to see how he’s slowly becoming a real little boy! Can’t stop being in awe with him. He loves to just imitate what we do – prepares the table for dinner, brings plates and placemats to the table… hmm I have to take advantage of that while he still enjoys being useful. he loves to get his boxes of toys and books but tires of it easily. He loves to go out! He loves barney! Hehehe… I think he’s growing out of his Thomas stage coz he points more to barney than Thomas. And he loves that song from mickey mouse play house – hotdog hotdog, hotdiggity dog! I swear he has a beat when he dances… takes after his mom!

And he loves fruits! Halleluiah! But I really have to be careful coz he already knows candies and cakes and I don’t ever want him to be like me, such a junk food addict. That’s why I always make sure we have fruits in the house. He takes after his dad. He also seem to like fish. My buchoy!

He knows bad smell and dirty. And he knows he can’t walk around without his shoes. The funny thing is he sometimes likes to wear the rider sandals, or the crocs or his rubber shoes. Hehehe… so cute diba?? Like he’s practicing his independence already. J and I bought this fisher price train in Singapore thinking that he’s gonna be so excited to see it. Well, I didn’t really see the excitement in his actions, just the smile when he saw his new toy. And after less than 2 weeks, I think he’s tired of it already. I want to buy him more and more toys. But I need to save up for his schooling. I want him to start school as early as now so that he gets to learn fast, rather than just hang out at home…

He’s starting to get used to strangers coz he doesn’t cry his head off when surrounded by strangers. Even when we’re out, I’d tell him I’m going, and he’s just gonna stay there not minding if no one he knows is around. Yeah, I need to think up a trick where I can convince him to do what I tell him to do without forcing him or him throwing up a tantrum. Hay, I just want to hug him so hard! :)

bechu

Hay… bebe is in the stage of being such handful and he’s only 17 months old! :) hay, my adorable bebe. Sometimes you just can’t get enough of him, I just want to cover him with kisses and hug him so tight but there are times when you just want to spank him for being so magulo. He’s in the stage where he wants to explore everything! Bring him to the groceries, he’ll try to get all the stuff and put it in our cart. He loves the cart in Shopwise where it’s half car and half grocery cart. There, I can actually leave him in the car and go about my business. He loves to turn the wheels like he’s driving it. And we didn’t teach him that, he just got it from looking at his dad while we’re travelling. Smartie!

He loves it when we play silly stuff like I’ll smell his feet and I’d fake a faint that it’s too smelly. He’d laugh and I’d do it again… and he doesn’t get tired of it (mom does.. hehehe). but it’s true, his little feet smell! I’m ashamed to admit it but it’s true that’s why I bought the open-toe sandals. and I love it when he shouts mommy like he just likes to shout it coz he doesn’t really want anything. :) sometimes when I stare at him, he looks like he’s thinking, like he’s in a pensive mood. I know, it’s weird for a bebe but I think he’s gonna grow up to be a deep person. Naks, mala artist. He hates strangers, if a stranger touches him, he wails. So it really takes time for him to warm up to a person but now, he’s very comfy with the lolos and lolas, jaygy (JC), tita mari, rose, Sharon and titel. So you can imagine our anxiety everytime we bring him to the doctor… he actually knows UST already. He starts to give small whimpers when we get nearer and nearer to Dr Jaucian’s room. My poor baby… hope he grows out of this. That’s why I’m very wary to bring him to the dentist.

Bechu, mumuy, buboy, buchuboy… I swear, I don’t know where I get these names I call him. It just comes out but I must remind myself to stop calling him that when he gets older. :)

Go back to the factory settings

Just hats off to that priest. He never fails to touch my heart everytime I hear mass at 6pm Sunday. you know, I’ve really lost confidence in the catholic priests coz their sermon doesn’t come from the heart. It comes off as mechanical and I feel that people can’t relate to it. But gash, this priest who I have yet to find out his name… has restored my faith in them again. It’s in Christ the King Church along E. Rodriguez. Last Sunday’s sermon is all about resetting back to the factory setting. See?? Who can come up with such an unconventional but still religious topic like that?? A lot of people need this… just go back to how basic it used to be, and that would hopefully bring you back to when you didn’t have a chip on your shoulder, no resentment or fear. This goes so well with married people who’ve lost that loving feeling…if you may. :) to sons and daughters who got hurt by their parents who just mean well. On my side, good thing I’m not into hanging onto resentments, probably because I have such a bad memory (selective memory may be a better term…). I usually don’t remember if people hurt me years ago… or I just stopped attaching myself too emotionally to anyone. So this serves as something of a reference to me when I give advises to my friends… I know a lot of people who hang on to negative feelings. And this is so appropriate for them. :) thanks Father priest.

the quest for a carinderia

... that's what i came up with as a theme for friday lunch outs. :) it's always been my own tradition to go out every friday lunch and just get away from the office. even if i'm all alone, i'd go out and just treat myself after a week of work. now, i've set up a small group - the mommies lunch out. and our theme for this March is the cheapest lunch out there. but i eventually changed to to carinderia coz let's face it, the cheapest lunch is still baon or just have those styo-foam-lunch-boxes delivered to the office.

we first tried petra and pilar which i read about in blogs. it was just walking distance from RCBC so one hot friday morning, we trekked to this high-end carinderia. we ordered chopsuey, kare-kare and adobo... and it's true what they say... it's yummy but also high end. the kare-kare topped with their super tasty bagoong made me think of bringing hane there coz he's a kare-kare lover. i'd go back to that place even for just a taste of their kare-kare. yummy! we didn't try the desserts coz it didn't really sweep me off my feet so we just contented ourselves with a mcdo sunday.

next stop: aling lucing along salcedo. it was really set up like a carinderia just like those in a regular local office. you have a choice of a budget meal or a sizzling budget meal. hehehe! it was funny that way coz you pay more if you want to eat out of a sizzling hot plate. i for one am not really a big fan of sizzling hot plate. the food just gets to a point that it'll become dry. but let's face it, you can't have sisig without the hot plate. we got the budget meals and ordered sisig to share. this is one of the meals that is easily forgetable but hey what do you expect from a carinderia?? the sisig is the kind that's too saucy. even if it was on a sizzling plate, it didn't really get to the crunchy phase. it was just full of sauce and you can taste the taba. after eating 2 spoonfuls, i eventually got used to the taste but i wouldn't go back there, even for their so-called specialty sisig.

3rd stop was sosings. hane and i used to eat here. hane just loves their nilaga and i guess the ambiance. but i remember when we used to eat here, i just went along with him coz i wasn't really keen on having a date in a carinderia. so it was a half-hearted attempt for me to eat there. but last friday, i got the enjoy the experience of it. yup, it's really an experience. not just the eating part, also the waiting, dessert and everything else. first thing you do is wait. yup, wait... wait on tables. as in you have to station yourself in front of the table you want to eat in. never mind that the people who are still eating there are getting conscious coz here are a group of people, with hands across the chest, tapping their feet and just whispering why it's taking so long for these fatsos to eat. hehehe! yup, that's the first experience. once you're seated, you tell the manang what you want to eat... ulam, soup and rice. make sure you have all the condiments: sili, calamansi, suka and toyo, and don't forget the tissue. once your food arrive, wipe your spool/fork with tissue and if you can, wipe your plate as well. surprisingly, the fish dish is more expensive than meat so make sure you ask for the price first if you're aiming to get the cheap meal. my fave has always been the liempo and the bicol express and till now, they never fail me. they're tasty and goes so well with sili and suka. oh, the drinks here are only those softdrinks in glass bottles. you can't have any iced tea, orange juice or whatever drinks you usually order from a typical resto. and to top off the meal, dessert would be a choice of yema, dirty ice cream or fruits sold in the streets. so far, this is my most fave carinderia nearest to makati. let's see how it goes on our next quests...

10 things today

Feb 4; 1:28PM

I’m surprisingly enjoying this book from John Irving… world according to garp. The story is fascinating and not your usual story that you more or less know what’s next.
I’ve had 6 chocolate mints and it’s only 1pm.
I know I need to cancel my fitness first membership, but I just couldn’t seem to bring myself to say goodbye to bodycombat every Monday.
It’s a high for me to see my bebe when I get home… oh and to see my hane too. J
One of my worries right now is if I should start disciplining my bebe.
I just discovered this cool net radio – aol radio – and I can play all the R&B songs that I want.
I need a haircut from Rose of Azta.
I’m dreading Friday 3pm… an appointment with the dentist.
I finally watched Twilight on DVD (unfortunately not the DVD copy but it was watchable) last Sunday and loved it. I loved the intensity and chemistry between Bella and whatshisname Cullen. I couldn’t wait to watch the next one.
I plan to leave work around 4:45… I have errands to do – get the laundry, buy bread, buy contact lens solution and finally play with bebe.

Christmas post

Christmas flew so fast, I didn’t even get to reflect and just feel the Christmas spirit, so busy with family activities, with making sure bechu is having a good time, making sure I have good dishes that I can serve to the table (it somehow became a tradition to have the sisters bring their own contribution to media noche and noche Buena. This holiday, I made mushroom pasta, salsa, bangus sardines, artichoke & spinach dip which I think are successful but it didn’t seem to be a hit with the family.) it’s fun to see how vino enjoyed being in BF, surrounded by lolo and lola, titas and kuya JC. He’s really a big boy now, he’s trying to be independent, he already wants to sit down at the dinner table all by himself (he already stole my chair!), he loves to play with queenie (growing up to be a dog lover just like mommy!), he can poop and pee in the CR but of course we need to guide him and he sometimes still pees in his shorts when he gets all excited, he can put on his slippers all by himself. He talks a lot now! he said a new phrase… “hear that”. He’s referring to fireworks, when he hears it. And I got so surprised when he asked me “mommy, help me”. Aww… isn’t that precious??? J
